Job Opportunity: Community Programs Assistant
Overview:
Centro de la Familia is seeking a motivated and community-focused Community Programs Assistant to help expand access to educational programming within the Spanish-speaking community. In this role, you will support recruitment, retention, and advocacy efforts for both youth and adult learners, while assisting with family needs assessments and program evaluations. You will also provide direct support to the Community Programs Manager through planning, coordination, and program operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead implementation and facilitation of core programs across age groups, including:
- Nuevo Día: Guide sessions focused on social-emotional learning for elementary students and families to foster effective communication.
- Plazas Comunitarias: Support Spanish-speaking adults earn their primary and secondary education certificates.
- Safe Dates: Assist in delivering curriculum to middle school students centered on building and maintaining healthy relationships.
- Assist in other current or future grant programming, including—but not limited to—Abriendo Puertas, Colega, Treasure Chest, and Deseret Industries and Bishop Storehouse voucher distribution.
- Conduct scheduled home visits to assess and understand family needs, ensuring programs adapt responsively.
- Represent and promote programs at community events, schools, and outreach venues.
- Build and nurture relationships with referral sources and program partners.
- Ensure timely data entry for all program activities and adhere to grant reporting requirements (monthly, semi-annual, annual).
- Maintain accurate participant and program documentation; adhere to confidentiality protocols.
- Assist in creating promotional materials (both print and digital) and support logistics for events and scheduling.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with staff, participants, and partners.
- Execute all agency and program policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor to fulfill agency goals.
Special Requirements:
- Available until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays for evening programming.
- Plan and lead monthly Saturday field trips.
- Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: Experience working with youth, children, or in community program settings.
- Fluent bilingual skills in English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and with community organizations, schools, and local officials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Strong interpersonal skills with cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
