The Gist…

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated   Financial Data Analyst with advanced Excel expertise to support a senior   government leader. This role requires working independently as a one-person   team, providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, and insights that   will inform executive-level decision-making. The ideal candidate is   detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities with   minimal oversight.


What Your Day Might Include…

  • Serve as the primary financial data analyst   for a high-level government executive.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze complex   financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate advanced Excel   models, dashboards, and reports to support executive decision-making.
  • Prepare briefing materials, financial   summaries, and data visualizations tailored for senior leadership.
  • Translate large datasets into clear,   actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor budget performance, cost drivers, and   forecast variances; provide regular updates and ad-hoc reports.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance   of all financial reporting.
  • Proactively identify process improvement   opportunities and implement streamlined financial tracking methods.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across   departments to gather required data and ensure consistency in reporting.
  • Manage priorities and deliverables   independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.



Requirements

You’ll Bring These Qualifications…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience in financial analysis, data analytics, or related field.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/Macros preferred).
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills; experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex data to senior leaders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently as a one-person team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
