The Gist…
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Financial Data Analyst with advanced Excel expertise to support a senior government leader. This role requires working independently as a one-person team, providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, and insights that will inform executive-level decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal oversight.
What Your Day Might Include…
- Serve as the primary financial data analyst for a high-level government executive.
- Collect, organize, and analyze complex financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and automate advanced Excel models, dashboards, and reports to support executive decision-making.
- Prepare briefing materials, financial summaries, and data visualizations tailored for senior leadership.
- Translate large datasets into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Monitor budget performance, cost drivers, and forecast variances; provide regular updates and ad-hoc reports.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all financial reporting.
- Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and implement streamlined financial tracking methods.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across departments to gather required data and ensure consistency in reporting.
- Manage priorities and deliverables independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
Requirements
You’ll Bring These Qualifications…
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5+ years of professional experience in financial analysis, data analytics, or related field.
- Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/Macros preferred).
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills; experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex data to senior leaders in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently as a one-person team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
