Position:                   Retail Supervisor                

Department:             Food and Beverage Operations

 

Job Summary:        Generates sales, assists with merchandising, and safeguards the assets of the Gaming Enterprise Division (GED) while providing outstanding guest service.  This is the second in a series of two (2) classifications. Incumbents work at a high level of expertise, exercise judgment and independence in performance of duties, and supervise the work of others.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  1. Performs the duties of the Retail Representative.
  2. Coordinates, assigns, and inspects the work activities of an assigned group of team members. 
  3. Schedules and inspects the work of team members performing specialized tasks such as inventory.
  4. Provides guidance in directing the completion of work activities; ensures team members work as a team and satisfy guests to promote profitability.
  5. Serves as a mentor and coach for Retail Representatives.
  6. Identifies the need for tasks such as revising guidelines and policies and revising sales goals.
  7. Recommends purchases of such items as merchandise and office supplies; ensures storerooms are adequately stocked.
  8. Recommends new methods to promote efficiency and reduce costs.
  9. Recommends training programs for team members; conducts some training programs.
  10. Assists Managers with administrative functions such as writing and issuing call logs and contributing to performance appraisals.
  11. Assists Managers with employee relation matters such as conducting investigations.
  12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of service industry standards for full service and upscale luxury hotels.
  2. Knowledge of merchandising and suggestive selling.
  3. Knowledge of departmental and GED policies, standards, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of scheduling team members and projects.
  5. Skill in coordinating the completion of projects and the work activities of others.
  6. Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  7. Strong organizational, planning, time management and communication skills.
  8. Skill in working courteously with guests as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  10. Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
  11. Ability to meet assigned goals.
  12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  13. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail.
  14. Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  15. Ability to complete work assignments efficiently and effectively.
  16. Ability to identify and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
  17. Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position, including the ability to accurately handle and count money as well as make change.
  18. Ability to operate all equipment needed for the position, including standard office equipment such as a multi-line telephone, computer, and photocopier.
  19. Ability to read and write legibly.
  20. Ability to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  21. Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  22. Ability to stand, bend, kneel and crouch, and reach objects above shoulder height.
  23. Ability to work in a smoking environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. One (1) year of retail sales experience.
  2. Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  3. Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  4. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and initiative. 
  5. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
  6. Must be able to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  7.  Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  8. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  9. Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  10. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  11. Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  2. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
