1.    Assesses plans, develops, implements, evaluates and revises education programs to meet the clinical needs of staff or to comply with federal, state, regulatory or organizational policy.  Serves as a planner for continuing education programs for nurses and other disciplines when indicated according to established guidelines.
2.    Demonstrates professional leadership in nursing practice, concepts, principles and interventions.
3.    Consults with patients, experts and staff on educational goals and programs.
4.    Provides clinical instruction with staff on unit to assess and assist with competency development.
5.    Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care.
6.    Updates department specific content for learning modules and unit specific policies and procedures.
7.    Exemplifies a high standard of customer service.
8.    Participates and plans activities that further professional growth for self and others.
9.    Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information) Systems.
10.    Ensures high-quality patient care.
11.    Assesses Nursing unit needs.
12.    Serves as a resource person to other units in clinical specialty. Serves on nursing committees, hospital committees or professional nursing organizations.  Fosters good public relations for unit, department and hospital.  Performs other work-related management duties and activities as assigned or requested.

13.    Serves as clinical resource person and assists nursing personnel in assessing patient/family status to plan nursing care.  Communicates with family members and health professionals regarding care of patients.  Serves as patient advocate within guidelines found in the patient Bill of Rights.
14.    Promotes open communication within the unit, department and with other units and departments.  Assists and plans unit staff meetings.  Provides input and standards in formulating patient care policy and procedures.  Works with medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.  Utilizes and promotes Quality Improvement standards and practice.
15.    Assists with performance evaluations of assigned personnel and contributes evaluation information on other personnel as appropriate.  Conducts and assists with evaluations for new staff prior to completion of probationary period.  Assists with employee counseling.
16.    Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
17.    Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.  


•    Current Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 
•    (BSN) – A Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or enrolled in a BSN program, preferred.
•    Three (3) to five (5) years recent healthcare nursing experience. Experience in assigned clinical area required.  
•    (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification and must maintain certifications.
•    (ACLS) – Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification and must maintain certifications.
•    (PALS) – Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification preferred
•    (TNCC) – Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum certification preferred
•    (ENPC) – Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course certification preferred
•    (De-escalation) - Completion of an approved De-escalation Certification Course (obtain within 90 days, offered within)
