About the Department
The City of Beaverton’s Community Development Department (CDD) is seeking an experienced administrative professional to be a Support Specialist 2 in the Administration Division. This role provides direct customer service to visitors and keeps the whole department on track by helping with a wide variety of administrative tasks including accounts payable, website updates, and meeting coordination.
The ideal candidate:
- Takes pride in creating a positive experience for customers accessing the CDD Permit Center in person, over the phone, and via the electronic permit system.
- Finds satisfaction in tracking details and can provide accurate bookkeeping, data entry, file maintenance, and contract tracking support to the department.
- Enjoys collaborating with coworkers, contractors, and other agencies to create and maintain positive working relationships.
- Has experience with Content Management Systems and creating, updating, and modifying web content.
- Is interested or has experience working in a construction, engineering, or permitting environment.
This is a full-time, non exempt, SEIU-classified position. The work hours will be Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm There is one vacancy.

Position Duties
Customer service and communication
- Help guests and visitors at the Permit Counter, by phone, and via email.
- Support citywide mailings and mass communications.
- Research and monitor public records requests.
Administrative and technical support
- Process accounts payable, contract change orders, and payment requests.
- Maintain electronic files for purchase orders and payment requests.
- Coordinate with the Finance Department on payments to other agencies.
- Order supplies, equipment, and city-branded clothing for staff.
- Make and monitor meeting and travel arrangements for employees.
- Prepare meeting spaces and materials for events and take notes at meetings.
- Maintain accurate records using databases and spreadsheets and generate reports.
Document and content management
- Draft, format, proofread, edit, and process documents including inspection notices, contracts, intergovernmental agreements, and memoranda.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and visual process flow diagrams.
- Organize and maintain electronic and paper files.
- Update internal and external websites with content, forms, and reports, ensuring that content and formatting follow ADA guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, and
- Three years of general office/clerical experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check.

Other Qualifications
Wage range: $25.97 - $34.80 hourly
Starting rate will be determined based on an analysis of related work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps within the posted wage range may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience.
