The Student Peer Tutor position in the You Belong in the Library program is a library leadership opportunity to work with a professional librarian faculty member (Sue Wiegand) by engaging with the upcoming Research With Robots! Workshops, and assisting with the library Academic Repository. This position was created for a First Gen student who is a Sophomore or above. The purpose is to participate in outreach, offer feedback on the student experience with the program, and welcome, encourage, and mentor other students (especially First Gen students and First Year students) to visit the library, take workshops, and engage with our new robot pet companions and other robots. An interest in innovation is a plus, as is any familiarity with the library, archives, and Spark Lab. You will gain career competencies and library research skills in information access, retrieval, and evaluation while opening a window into Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, and Human-Centered Technology issues in Library and Information Science (LIS) as well as applications in the sciences and health and human services. This position is a great opportunity to gain experience and demonstrate leadership and responsibility. In addition, you will have a voice in designing library workshops. Hours: to be determined, depending on availability, probably 9-12 hours per month. Prefer you to come in to discuss. Send your application or resume to Sue Wiegand, [email protected]
