Summary:
The CDL Driver’s primary responsibility is to safely drive the truck for picking up and delivering food. They will be the first face of Second Harvest Foodbank, representing our organization to our partner agencies and donors.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Drive trucks safely to pick up and deliver food.
- Maintain accurate records for all donation pick-ups/deliveries.
- Provide back up for deliveries utilizing the sprinter van and other vehicles that might otherwise be completed by volunteers.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all partner agencies, food donors, and other people involved in ending hunger.
- Understand and participate in ongoing safety program.
- Report equipment needing repairs to the Transportation Supervisor
- Ensure program operations comply Second Harvest, State, and Local regulations.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers and operations team.
- Attend Driver and All Staff Meetings.
- Responsible for ensuring the general maintenance on all vehicles driven is performed on a regular basis.
- Perform any other duties as needed to ensure smooth operation of the distribution center, as well as to fulfill our mission, drive our vision and abide by our values.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- 1 Year of related experience.
- Valid CDL Class B or A; or be actively working towards a Class CDL A or B including the completion of Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) through a FMCSA Registered Training Provider, with the ability to obtain applicable CDL License within three months of hire.
- Must have the ability to complete food safety certification within six months of hire.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization.
