General Statement of Job:
 

This position assists the Pharmacist in accurately dispensing medications and medical supplies to patients, clinics, and various institutions. Employees in this position are responsible for maintaining accurate information on patient profiles, processing billing, maintaining inventory, and maintaining complete files.?? This position requires public contact and the ability to work well with the public and health professionals.


Essential Functions:
 

  • Assists the Pharmacist in accurately dispensing medications and medical supplies to patients, clinics, and various institutions.

  • Enters and maintains information in the computer for the purpose of maintaining accurate data on patient profiles.

  • Assist with workflow telephone calls and directs messages accordingly.

  • Fills prescriptions for patients in an accurate and efficient manner.

  • Assists patients and medical staff at the pharmacy dispensing station.

  • Maintains inventory of stock and completes purchase orders for new/replacement stock.

  • Processes billing and re-submits any claims found unauthorized.

  • Assists the pharmacist with inventory management initiatives/projects.

  • Responds to concerns and inquiries by patients, clinics, and doctors; provides responses commensurate with the authority of the Registered Pharmacy Technician position.

  • Responsible for the upkeep of pharmacy facility, including but not limited to housekeeping activities and responsibilities.

  • Communicates with patients to obtain information for the purpose of updating profile records.

  • Processes all required forms for dispensing, as required for various District?s, Pfizer?s and DOH?s programs.

  • Completes and processes requisition orders for the clinic, District facilities, and other institutions.

  • Maintains emergency response kits for clinics.

  • Returns overstock and expired medications with the appropriate/required documentation.

  • Responsible for the timely processing, ordering, and accuracy of Pfizer?s Sharing to Caring program vouchers and related documentation.

  • Maintains all files within the pharmacy; assists in annual inventory and routine pharmacy inventory management.

  • Verifies eligibility of patients.

  • Travels to other pharmacy locations and emergency established sites to perform certified pharmacy technician?s duties.

  • Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Qualifications

Education:
 

High school diploma or GED required.


Experience:
 

One (1) to two (2) years previous experience in a clinic, retail, or hospital pharmacy required. Must possess knowledge of commonly used medical and pharmacy symbols and abbreviations, as well as some general understanding about laws and regulations affecting the pharmacy profession


Certification:

Licensure:
 

Registered Pharmacy Technician License from the Florida Board of Pharmacy is required.? Valid current Florida driver?s license required.
