Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services is accepting applications for a full-time Medical Oncologist position to start as soon as possible at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) in Red Deer, Alberta.

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) in Red Deer is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Alberta’s Community Oncology portfolio. Serving Central and Northern Alberta, the centre delivers a wide range of state-of-the-art treatment and care to cancer patients including outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and access to clinical trials, education and psychosocial support. Cancer care practice at the CACC is centered around 7 major tumour groups with rarer tumours managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Calgary and Edmonton. The CACC operates within a provincial framework for cancer care supported by provincial clinical guidelines and standards, focused on patient centered care.

The Department of Oncology, Cancer Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Community Oncology in conjunction with University of Calgary invite applications for a full-time Medical Oncologist position at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) in Red Deer, Alberta.   

This position will be required to be located at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, in Red Deer Alberta as primary location and will join a team of Medical and Radiation Oncologists, Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff working in the Central Zone.

The CACC in Red Deer is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Alberta’s Community Oncology portfolio serving Central Alberta. Cancer care practice at the CACC is centered around 7 major tumor groups with rarer tumors managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Calgary and Edmonton.

The CACC operates within a provincial framework for cancer care supported by provincial clinical guidelines and standards, focused on patient centered care. Medical Oncologists are expected to participate in local and provincial tumor team-based activities including clinical case reviews at tumor board rounds, annual, provincial tumor team meetings, local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and educational programs and are supported by a network of Medical Oncologists province wide.

Medical Oncology practice at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre is disease site oriented. The successful candidates focus would be the care of patients affected by the more common malignancies, including lung, GI, GU and Breast cancers.

Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine and special competency in Medical Oncology (or equivalent). Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. This position is sponsorship and LMIA n and AHS Sponsorship eligible.
