National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Project Support Officer to join our team in Major Projects. As a Project Support Officer, you will support and enable the delivery of capital investment projects in the Major Projects directorate. The broad scope of this role encompasses the delivery and coordination of project and administrative support to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to time, quality and within budget.

Please note this is a hybrid position and will be based from our Bedford office however travel to regional offices / sites to attend team meetings will be required. 

  • Provide comprehensive project support for project management activities including finance, document control and scheme governance ensuring the accuracy and quality of project data and compliance.
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in National Highways and the supply chain.
  • Enable and support effective information management including the maintenance of high-quality project products and records in accordance with National Highways Policies and Procedures and legal requirements.
  • Support with project / programme governance and assurance requirements including stage gate assessments, independent audits, financial management activities, monthly reporting and project health checks.
  • Operate administrative processes, ensuring these are delivered accurately on time and in with line with defined procedures and standards

About you. 

  • Excellent customer service skills and communications skills. 
  • A knowledge or experience of project and or/programme management. 
  • Evidence of working with information and reports from multiple sources.
  • Excellent collaborator with good ability to gain the involvement and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational skills including managing multiple tasks to deadlines.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
