Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, located in New Hyde Park, NY, is looking to hire an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Director of Nursing Education and Quality Assurance role at our world-class skilled nursing facility located on the Queens-Long Island border. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services, the Director of Nursing Education and Quality Assurance will coordinate and lead multiple programs such as Nursing Education and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement.

Key Tasks Include

• Develops and directs performance improvement activities in areas of responsibility routinely and handles and corrects concerns timely.

• Collaborates with nursing education on developing lesson plans and in-services/competencies for areas identified in need

• Rounds and audits staff and medical records, for policy and regulatory compliance; concerns are handled timely for compliance and with a proactive feedback approach.

• Initiates and participates in Performance Improvement Projects, and as assigned.

• Develops, trains, monitors and assists in educating staff, on the above initiatives and others as needed.

• Serves as Nursing Department senior leader, coach and mentor to leaders and staff, and facilitator, as well as liaison to all departments, facilitating needs.

• Responsible for ensuring organizational readiness with NYSDOH focus and annual surveys

• Facilitates a learning approach to success, aiming at mentoring all levels of staff, to the highest level of performance

• Assists in recruitment and retention initiatives

• Responsible for nursing compliance with Nursing Department and interdisciplinary policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• BSN or BA, Masters Degree in Nursing or health care administration preferred

• New York State RN license

• Two years supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership ability

• Availability to work weekends on occasion

• Communicates effectively and efficiently with others; is cooperative, accommodating and helpful; respects others; is friendly, courteous and well-mannered
