Hours: 1st shift, Monday through Friday.  | Some Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience



PRN, day shift position in Rehab Services.





JOB SUMMARY:



Responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician.  Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.  Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.  The staff therapist coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (RCNA, PTA, PTLA, etc.). Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.  Participates in all infection control, departmental training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.



Minimum Job Qualifications:

 

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy preferred.

 

Experience:

Previous experience with Pediatrics or Neuro preferred.

 

License/Certifications:

Ø  Current State Physical Therapy Licensure.

Ø  Current CPR certification.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Responsible for direction of the Physical Therapy Department certified staff, including physical therapy assistants, physical therapy aides.
  2. Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommends change to physician as needed.
  3. Ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy.  This includes pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patients and the general patient population.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of the Physical Therapy modalities.
  5. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
  6. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  7. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  8. Communicates appropriately with and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
  9. Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  10. Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department.
  11. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions.
  12. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  13. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  14. Participates in performance improvement activities for department and organizational QI activities.
  15. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
  16. Participates in educational staff performance improvement services.  Assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs.
  17. Evaluation of a child with cerebral palsy: be able to describe 4 or more neurological characteristics, and describe 2 or more primitive reflexes and their effect on function.
  18. Geriatric patients with Alzheimer’s: describe 3 or more symptoms or characteristics of Alzheimer’s syndrome, and describe patient restraint policy for patients in hospital and nursing home.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.







Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
