POSITION SUMMARY
Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate entry of all vendor-related transactions in accordance with GAAP and Company policies & procedures in a manner that aligns with our Company values of Safety, Quality, Respect, Transparency, and Innovation. Accounts Payable Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager.
JOB DUTIES
- Process accounts payable transactions ensuring accuracy and timeliness of invoice entry.
- Serve as primary contact with external vendors responding to inquiries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Collaborate interdepartmentally to ensure execution of Company's purchasing policy to support operational needs and objectives.
- Maintain documentation of invoices and statements supporting all payables transactions.
- Prepare and maintain monthly accrual and prepaid financial transactions.
- Reconcile subledger accounts monthly to the general ledger.
- Maintain vendor records within the accounting system.
- Process credit applications in collaboration with Procurement for establishing credit with vendors of the Company.
- Work closely with grant principal investigators or grant contract managers to track grant expenses compared to grant awards.
- Implement existing accounting policies and procedures and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure sales and use compliance and preparation of returns.
- Prepare documentation for external auditors and annual tax filings.
- Prepare 1099's annually.
- Prepare other general journal entries and ad hoc reports as requested by finance management.
- Crosstrain on accounts receivable ensuring accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry for occasional backup.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or relevant experience.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance encouraged.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently within a team across multiple locations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
