184 Days/ 8 hours per day
Qualifications: LPN license/certification required; RN license preferred.
Reports To: Principal/Lead School Nurse
Responsibilities:
1. Observe students to assess/detect health conditions and needs.
2. Instruct and assist teachers and other school personnel in screening students for health needs including, but not limited to, hearing, vision, scoliosis, lice, etc.
3. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and skill in administering medications and treatments.
4. Administer first aid in accordance with established procedures.
5. Maintain and administer student medications as prescribed.
6. Collect and maintain authorization/consent forms for student treatment/medication.
7. Provide and assist with care of students, employees, and others who have suffered an injury or emergency illness.
8. Demonstrate and instruct school personnel in the proper precautions for handling body fluids and related infection control and safety.
9. Assure the appropriate cofidentiality of students and other clients.
10. Maintain equipment and supplies and keep clinic area clean and orderly.
11. Maintain records and submit reports in a timely manner.
12. Collect, record, and organize health care statistics/information as needed.
13. Develop and submit a budget to the Lead School Nurse and administer that budget as approved by the Board of Education.
14. Maintain positive lines of communication with school personnel, students, and parents.
15. Participate on committees as assigned.
16 Participate in staff development activities.
17. Exhibit regular, dependable, and punctual attendance.
18. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
