ABOUT THE ROLE:
Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Medical Records Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Patient Access Medical Records and help with the training of medical records staff.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Oversees the daily activities of the medical records staff, ensuring work assignments are distributed appropriately and staff are equipped with the necessary resources for success.
- Monitors performance, provides constructive feedback, and coaches staff to achieve departmental goals.
- Conducts regular training sessions, fostering professional development, and maintaining a collaborative, supportive work environment.
- Responsible for quality assurance within medical records processes and ensures compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Effective communication and leadership to guide the team, address challenges, and maintain high standards of service and accuracy throughout all medical records activities.
- Competent in the Medent and Medical Records Processes.
- Strong knowledge and accuracy in patient registration and insurance entry.
- Process strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Resolve patient/customer complaints in a timely manner.
- Maintaining current knowledge of HIPAA.
- Provide training and oversite of medical records operations.
- Review medical record entries and processing to give feedback to appropriate staff.
- Provide on-going education to medical records staff and front office staff across all locations (as needed).
- Reporting to the Patient Access Manager, has input into the selection of staff, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and assist in resolving problems.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Participates in improvement projects, initiatives, and related training in areas of responsibility.
- Attends required meetings
- Participates as a team player
- Assumes other tasks as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical office setting
- Knowledge of medical records and customer service
- Knowledge of computer applications and word processing
