The Crossdock department works closely with both the Receiving and Loading departments, Sales and occasionally customers. They ensure that special order items (inventory ordered specifically for a customer) makes it way to the delivery vehicles or will call instead of being stocked in the nursery bed/bin.
Essential Functions:
• May assist Receiving in offloading plant material in various and all sizes at the receiving dock. Uses Team lift techniques to ensure safety. Also, may assist with stocking plant material at the end of the day.
• Uses software (Eagle) to view plant orders arriving for the day. When orders begin to arrive, use the inventory gun to pick the order for transfer.
• Water and then stock incoming plant material in will call or in delivery area based on order requirements, update location on Latitude gun.
• Take care to verify quantities received and quality of plant material when filling transfer orders. Finalize all orders by the end of each day.
• Communicate with sales, pulling, and receiving if any issues arise.
• Communicate with supervisor regarding workload for the day and any issues that arise.
• General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
• General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.
Additional tasks:
• May assist in other nursery departments as needed.
• Duties are subject to change at any time per management’s discretion.
Job Specifications:
Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing) more than 50-90% of the time. When stocking plants, bending at the waist, twisting, turning, and squatting is required. Ability to get on vendors trucks with the use of the loading dock.
Lifting requirements: Up to 50 lbs. 75% of the time. Up to 100 -225 lbs. 25% of the time (team lifting required).
Hand movement: Gross grasping for lifting and moving plant material.
