This position is the primary support for all customer service assistance in person or by phone. This position retains and expands existing customer accounts and acquires new customers by aggressively selling deposit accounts and other retail banking services. This position meets various customer needs through a high level of personal contact and by referring customers to other bank departments for additional services.
Primary Duties:
- Flex Coverage:
- Communicate regularly with the Branch Manager to remain up to date on scheduling and staffing needs.
- Travel to different branches, as scheduled, for varying shifts.
- Respond quickly to requests for shift coverage.
- Attend periodic refresher training sessions, as needed.
- Collaborate with Manager to develop and achieve meaningful individual goals.
- Meet quarterly with Branch Manager in order to discuss goals, assess progress, develop personal steps for growth and provide feedback.
- Customer Service and Customer Retention:
- Counsel customers regarding financial matters, advising them on products and rates, suggesting a strategy to obtain the best results based on individual desires and resources.
- Resolve customer problems, obtaining information, researching records and following up on details to resolve the matter to the customer’s satisfaction, whenever possible.
- Business Development:
- Develop business by calling on potential customers outside of the Bank.
- Participate in various professional associations and community activities to enhance the Bank’s visibility and to further personal development.
- Attend at least one of the six Chamber Business After Hours events.
- Sales Programs:
- Actively participate in the Ask Program.
- Attend Quarterly Retail Sales Meetings.
- Training / Development:
- Attend and actively participate in training sessions as scheduled.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings as scheduled.
- Production:
- Sell bank products and services through personal contact and direct mail including; checking, savings, certificate of deposits, individual retirement accounts, and other retail banking services.
- Open business and personal accounts, preparing all permanent records.
- Continue to enhance cross-selling skills and techniques.
- Increase customer relationships by cross-selling to include phone and/or letter contact to existing customers for additional services.
- Cross-sell all products and services to new customers.
- Actively refer customers to other departments when applicable.
- Responsible for the daily handling of overdrafts on assigned customer accounts and make decisions on accounts where the officer is not available.
- Compliance and Regulatory Guidelines:
- Establish and negotiate, within the framework of the Bank’s policies.
- Complete online compliance testing quarterly.
- Policies and Procedures:
- Understand and comply with all compliance regulations.
- Practice and comply with bank policy and procedures on a daily basis.
- Security / Fraud:
- Ensure branch building, grounds and equipment are properly maintained.
- Attend all mandatory security training sessions
- Branch Collections / Technical Exceptions:
- Work your deposit delinquency accounts daily.
- Work your technical exceptions on a weekly basis
- Volunteer for at least one Bell Bank event per year.
- Volunteer for at least one CEP per year.
- Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
- Know and practice LOCBUTN, our Golden Rules, and Bell Bank Customer Service Standards.
- Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
- Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
- All employees are responsible for information security including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
- Prompt and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Required:
- Thorough knowledge of branch operations to coordinate the daily functioning of the branch and to resolve employee and customer problems.
- Complete familiarity with the Bank’s savings, checking policies and guidelines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to conduct business development calls to area agencies and builders and deal with potential savings and loan customers.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor at all times.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and Saturdays as scheduled.
