This is NOT a remote position – the job requires in-person work.
Evening, weekend, television, distance education (i.e., Lana‘i and Moloka‘i), and off-campus (various high school campuses) may be assigned as part of the regular workload.
Position may be converted from 9-month to 11-month, based on program/operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach a range of Art courses in any art sub-discipline (e.g., painting, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and others).
- Serve as area lead for the arts discipline with responsibilities for scheduling, facilities management, arranging equipment and supply purchases, and other administrative duties as assigned by the Humanities Department Chair.
- Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues to identify, plan, develop, and implement learning strategies to meet student, special population, college, and community needs.
- Develop teaching strategies, instructional materials, and methods that use learning outcomes-based instruction and multi-media resources, including computers.
- Conduct curriculum and program development for art in all sub-disciplines.
- Provide service in areas of expertise to the college and the larger community.
- Related activities include, but are not limited to, preparing, adapting and revising course materials, objectives and syllabi; maintaining at least one office hour per week for each course taught; advising students; identifying student learning needs and implementing constructive responses to them; participating in faculty and administrative committees; developing a program of professional self-improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:
Art (Applied Studio)
Master’s Degree in Art or Fine Art
OR
Master recognition by Applied Art Community AND 10 years related work experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching courses in any art sub-discipline (e.g., painting, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and others), preferably at post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student learning outcomes, program review, assessment, and practical applications of discipline skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curriculum reflecting student and community demand.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain a College Art Department.
- Evidence of strong ties within the Hawai'i art community.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and coordinate positive, productive working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration, using good judgment, tact, and discretion.
- Ability to work successfully with multi-cultural groups and individuals with diverse academic abilities, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
