The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for Production Homebuilder Accounts. This position requires analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop reliable budgets and proposals. The Estimator works closely with project management, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure all cost elements are captured and aligned with company standards and client requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the data entry team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in entering project data.
  • Solicit, review, and analyze bids and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals and budgets in accordance with deadlines.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, industry pricing trends, and construction practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders during project handoff to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
  • Track and analyze project costs to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documentation, and supporting data for audit and reference purposes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in construction estimating in residential and multi-family home construction strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, methods, and building codes.
  • Proficiency with estimating software 
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, contracts, and technical drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel required for site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client/vendor interactions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and climbing during site visits.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
