Position Summary
The General Radiography Practical Technologist performs chest and extremity radiographic exams, ensures image quality, manages imaging records in PACS and Fuji RIS, and provides support to patients, technologists, and radiologists. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the X-ray Modality Manager.
General Radiography Practical Technologist Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be able to go beyond duties in order
to do what is best for the patients and department within their scope. - Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging of chest and extremities.
- Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
- Explains exams to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density and accuracy.
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- When not doing chest and extremities radiography exams, must bring back patients, clean and stock rooms, and help enter information in fuji ris for the radiologic technologists.
- Demonstrates a commitment to “World Class Customer Service”.
- Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
- Arranges for repairs as needed on equipment.
- Completes forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed
- Must be flexible to work at multiple locations and varied shifts.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and arranges for repairs as needed.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Complete a training program in radiologic technology through an ADHS Department approved radiologic program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- ADHS (CPTR-Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography)
- CPR
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, use hands, fingers and arms to handle, feel and reach, standing, walking, bending, and sitting. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and on occasion lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
