JOB SUMMARY: Serves as point of contact for staff with regards to the EMR and informatics team. Researches and suggests new workflows to improve patient care and efficiency. Trains staff in EMR workflows. Works with informatics team and others to solve issues with regards to the EMR. Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary staff as needed.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
• Coordinates EMR activities, promoting and maintaining harmonious relationships among all personnel and with the medical staff, patients and the public.
• Works with clinic and hospital management in planning and implementing orientation and in-service training programs for professional and non-professional staff. Revises new employee programs as needed.
• Rounds daily with professional staff with regards to informatics needs and issues.
• Tracks changes to the EMR that will affect clinic and hospital operations.
• Keeps the IT Director informed of the functioning of the EMR within the clinic and hospital departments and documents any problems.
• Serves as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
• Works with staff when implementing changes or solving issues.
• Manage RHC EHR updates and provide end user training.
• Provide direct, hands-on education and support to staff in use of EHR technology in a manner which promotes patient safety and confidentiality
• Assists IT Director in creating and maintaining policies and procedures for the department.
• Participate in Quality initiatives and other teams as requested.
• Works closely with clinic and hospital management to promote positive change in workflows, processes, and new technologies to enhance efficiency and patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Professional Requirements:
• Three to four years of experience working in a clinical setting.
• Experience with Cerner EMR, preferably as a Superuser.
• Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team building skills, with participative management style.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or commensurate experience.
- Clinical licensure or experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Occasional standing and walking.
- Occasional reaching, stopping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
