The Custodial and Maintenance Technician is responsible for addressing facility needs in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to organizational standards, safety guidelines, and compliance regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain Facility Cleanliness & Safety – Clean and sanitize all areas, including lobbies, locker rooms, pools, wellness spaces, and grounds, ensuring they meet YMCA standards.
- Repair & Maintain Building Systems and Equipment – Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and program equipment, including fitness machines, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance – Follow a maintenance schedule to service equipment, replace parts, and complete tasks that extend asset life and prevent breakdowns.
- Support Program & Event Operations – Set up, move, and maintain equipment, furniture, and supplies for programs, classes, and special events. Assist the Facilities Director with the setup and closing of Camp Blanchard.
- Monitor Facility Condition – Inspect facility, equipment, and grounds regularly, addressing or reporting hazards or needed repairs.
- Pool & Aquatic Area Maintenance - Test and adjust water chemistry, clean pool areas, and maintain aquatic systems and equipment.
- Customer Service & Member Engagement – Respond promptly to staff or member repair requests, keeping them informed and minimizing service disruptions. Utilize Asset Essential to review and complete building work orders
- Inventory & Supply Management – Maintain tools, parts, and supply inventory, requesting restocks when needed.
- Emergency Response – Address equipment failures, spills, and safety concerns quickly to ensure safe and smooth operations.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in facility maintenance, equipment repair, or custodial work, preferably in a multi-use or recreational facility.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and make repairs.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing fitness equipment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Basic computer skills for work order tracking, email, and equipment logs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to interact professionally with members, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and comply with OSHA and YMCA standards.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, work on ladders, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Schedule: 40 hours/week. Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm (shifts may vary)
Job Type: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
Pay: $20.00/hour. Full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!
