Hybrid Environmental Scientist bei SCS Engineers

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an environmental scientist to assist with the workload of diverse, challenging solid waste and environmental projects in Iowa. This position is based in the Des Moines, IA metro area. You will provide support to our existing solid waste and environmental compliance practice consisting of landfill and industrial facility environmental compliance for private and municipal clients.

 

As a member of our environmental services team, you will have the opportunity to develop into a project and client manager, become an expert in the technical facets of the field, and experience diverse work opportunities with other SCS engineers and scientists. Your responsibilities will be primarily performed in the office along with fieldwork assignments. As new work develops, you will manage contact with clients, and manage the schedule and work product, consistent within SCS's quality control standards.

How you can make an impact:

• Prepare technical reports, including tabulated data, charts, graphs, statistical analysis, and figures, using good time management.
• Perform routine and non-routine field activities including sample collection, construction oversight, and site inspections.
• Manage small to mid-scale projects and provide support on larger projects.
• Prepare proposals and project budgets and participate in business development activities.
• Complete field and office assignments in a quality and safe manner.
• Occasional overnight travel will be required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science or related science required.
• Minimum of 3 months of relevant environmental internship, work and/research experience required.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software knowledge required.
• Field equipment and field sampling experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with driving record in good standing required.
