Job Description:We are looking for a Technical Editor to join our team and support our Federal Government Customer. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to manage the lifecycle of technical policy documentation, ensuring that it is clear, concise, and consistent with complex technical standards and legal/regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Determine the needs of users of technical documentation
- Develop and refine processes to manage technical documentation throughout its lifecycle
- Track and manage updates, revisions, and approvals from multiple sources
- Collect user feedback to update and improve content
- Review and edit documents based on government standards
- Write or revise supporting content for products
- Develop and incorporate graphs, illustrations, or photographs to increase users’ understanding of the material
- Standardize content across platforms and media
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity
- Ready to take initiative to tackle tasks that need doing whether directly assigned or not
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (Policy, English, Journalism, etc.) with 2-3 years of experience; or equivalent technical or publishing background with 5-6 years of experience
- Familiar with one or more of the following technical competencies: government privacy and cybersecurity topics, policy writing/editing, and research methods documentation
- Analytical thinker with good quantitative skills
- Great communicator (written and oral) who thrives in a team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in managing technical documentation in SharePoint, including version management of shared files
- Obsessive eye for consistency and technical accuracy
- Grammar nerd
- Appreciates a well-organized list
- Experienced working with subject matter experts in-person and remote
- Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to summarize content for presentations, and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
