Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Pay range: $23.55 - $27.08/hr

Trilogy has received funding from the State of Illinois to develop and implement mobile crisis response program in response to the recognition that mental health crises are not currently addressed in the most effective, safe, and trauma-informed way.  Trilogy will provide mobile crisis outreach services to community members in Trilogy’s designated CCBHC and MCRT zip codes. 

The Peer Engagement Specialist will respond to mental health crises in the community as part of a team and builds rapport with clients by sharing their personal recovery story and offering hope, empathy, and understanding, they help de-escalate situations, empower individuals, and support the team in identifying the most appropriate and safe outcomes for each client. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a harm reduction approach, and a commitment to trauma-informed care. 


Responsibilities

  • Engage individuals in crisis using empathy, active listening, and shared lived experience to build trust and reduce emotional distress.
  • Share personal recovery journey in a respectful and intentional manner to offer hope and normalize the individual’s experience.
  • Collaborate with clinical team members to assess needs and help determine the least restrictive and most supportive safety plan.
  • Support de-escalation efforts by remaining calm, nonjudgmental, and present during high-stress situations.
  • Advocate for the client’s voice and choices, ensuring their perspective is heard in the development of immediate and ongoing care plans.
  • Provide linkage to resources, including peer support, behavioral health services, and community programs.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings, debriefings, and trainings.
  • Maintain personal wellness and professional boundaries, using supervision and peer support to process difficult experiences.
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Must have one of the following requirements: 
    • High school diploma or GED
    • CRSS certification through IAODAPCA
    • Bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field
    • Bachelor's degree in any other field 
    • Certificate of Psychiatric Rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program
    • Family Partnership Professional certificate from and in good standing with IAODAPCA
  • Must be a past or present consumer of mental health services and willing to share their personal story of recovery with our clients. 
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification or must obtain certification within 18 months of hire. 
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with daily access to a well-maintained vehicle with $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance 
  • Experience in mobile crisis, Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS), or emergency room crisis work settings preferred
