Jackson County Employment Opportunity


Jackson County Community Justice is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team. Our department encompasses Adult Services (Parole and Probation), Juvenile Probation, Detention and Residential Services, and the Jackson County Transition Center. Through these services, we work to address criminal behavior and promote positive behavior change, ensuring a safer community for all. We are currently hiring an Extra Help Juvenile Justice Specialist.

Position Duties

  • This position will be on-call for our 24-Hour Juvenile Detention and Residential units, the shifts will vary.  
  • This position will generally average no more than 20 hours per week.
  • Must pass a criminal background check prior to hire. 
  • Must submit an acceptable DMV certified court print prior to hire.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen prior to hire.

Minimum Qualifications

Examples of Important Job Tasks:

  • Admit, release and monitor juveniles within the county detention or residential facility in accordance with state law, contractual obligations and department policy.
  • Maintain security, order and schedule of activities with the facility. Conduct searches as needed in accordance with facility regulations.  Instruct juveniles on rules, procedures and expectations.
  • Maintain documentation on juveniles within the facility by establishing, monitoring and maintaining detailed case files, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of juveniles' behavior, attitudes and actions; prepare thorough and detailed reports and maintain records as necessary.
  • Oversee meal preparation and serving, laundry, housekeeping, etc.
  • Perform crisis intervention functions to include counseling, suicide prevention, recognizing abnormal behavior and taking appropriate action.


Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED.


License or Certificate:

Requires possession of a valid Oregon driver's license and a good driving record.
