Renesas is seeking a Graduate Firmware/Middleware Engineer for our Infrastructure Power team in Austin, TX, where we develop the most advanced digital power ICs in the industry. You will architect, design, and maintain firmware for integrated circuits that supply power to the largest and most powerful advanced computing platforms. Also, you will work to test the firmware and hardware design in pre- and post-silicon stages. Your contributions will span low level circuits to large system design, and you will see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing.
Job Duties:
- Design and implement ROM firmware on embedded SOCs in pre-silicon simulation and emulation environment
- Write firmware patch to implement new features or apply hardware workaround post-silicon tape-out
- Work with hardware design team to define software/hardware interface per customer specification
- Write firmware specifications to document architecture and implementation
- Work with applications team to bring up new silicon and debug issues found in validation
- Develop automated tests to validate firmware on lab bench utilizing test equipment
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field
- Expert at developing firmware in C programming language
- Familiar with System Verilog based test bench
- Experience working with hardware RTL design in SystemVerilog
- Proficient in a scripting language such as Python/Perl for firmware tool development
- Strong analytical skills and debug methodology
- Good written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ARM cortex M-series processor and ARM compiler toolchain
- Knowledge and experience in software life cycle and CI/CD processes
- Working experience with Arm System emulator such as QEMU
- Working experience with Cadence or Synopsys design tools: SimVision or Verdi
- Solid understanding of serial bus protocols such as I2C, SPI
- Familiar with digital PWM voltage regulators
