Constructor University invites applications from interested candidates for the following position, to be filled ideally in Fall 2025:
Lecturer in Computer Science - Software Projects and Tools (m/f/d)
(Full-time, 38,5 hours/week, initially limited for 36 months)
Your responsibilities:
In this position, you will support our teaching activities in the field of Computer Science and Software Engineering, with an emphasis on the development of online teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be teaching courses in the field and advise students during their studies, especially with respect to the concepts and the related use of tools for remote development of software in student teams. A suitable candidate for the position hence needs expertise in software engineering and distributed development tools, e.g., GitHub, Slack, and UML tools.
The candidate is expected to engage primarily in innovative online teaching, for example in a flipped classroom model. The candidate will engage in the teaching of hands-on components related to Computer Science and Software Engineering. The aim is to educate students to turn acquired knowledge into practice by developing course-related software in remote student teams. Courses of interest include, but are not limited to Distributed Software Development, Introduction to Computer Science, Software Design and Prototyping, and Algorithms and Data Structures.
You will be expected to support teaching in our programs in Computer Science and Applied Computer Science; develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning; advise students on their studies; and supervise bachelor and master’s theses and research projects. In certain cases, you may also be asked to support the supervision of PhD theses.
Your qualifications and experience:
MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field
Strong interest and initial experience in teaching in international and diverse environments
Affinity to digital teaching tools and content implementation into learning management
systems
Expertise in Software Engineering and distributed development tools, e.g., GitHub, Slack,
and UML tools
Excellent verbal and written fluency and communication skills in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
Intercultural experience and competence
