Packaging Architect
In this role, you have the opportunity to design, develop and maintain Diagnostic X-ray (Radiography, Fluoro & Mammography) and realization of a range of products in such a way that future products options and features can be realized with acceptable effects for the earlier products. You are responsible for identifying appropriate technologies for overall system, sub-system and component levels. You will ensure that your design is consistent with the higher-level architecture and requirements.
Your role:
Packaging Design & Development
- Develop innovative, sustainable, and functional packaging solutions aligned with business needs and global norms.
- Create and release 2D/3D packaging designs, engineering drawings, and specifications using CAD tools (preferably Creo or SolidWorks).
- Identify suitable packaging materials and create Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Apply GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack-up analysis for packaging components and subsystems.
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
Project & Process Ownership
- Support global cross-functional teams on supplier transfer and sustaining projects.
- Own packaging development processes and represent packaging as SME during QMS audits and inspections.
- Lead packaging-related engineering change management activities and maintain documentation in PLM systems (Windchill, Agile).
Testing & Validation
- Lead prototype development and oversee rigorous testing to validate packaging design concepts.
- Develop and execute test plans to ensure packaging meets performance, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
- Ensure compliance with global packaging standards (ASTM, ISO, ISPM 15, ISTA, etc.).
Collaboration & Optimization
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, service, and supply chain teams to optimize packaging for cost, quality, lead time, and regionalization.
- Review and support supplier part qualification activities.
- Perform hand calculations, simulations and feasibility analysis for packaging designs.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
- Mentor junior engineers and peers on packaging design, standards, and best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement and standardization across packaging processes.
You are fit if:
- Master/Bachelor in mechanical engineering with 12+ years of experience
- Expertise in design techniques, application domain and engineering. Keeps it up-to-date and propagates it, both internal and external.
- Ability to technically lead a team with a Domain Expertise in Machine Design, Manufacturing process, Materials selection, Value Engineering
- Analytical, creative, and intellectual thinker, with ability to perform mechanical design calculations & verify designs
- Good Knowledge of Manufacturing processes like Sheet Metal & Fabrication / Plastic / Machining while designing.
- Excellent command on, skills like Reliability measures, DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), Risk Analysis, DFMEA, DFM, GD & T, Tolerance Stack up Analysis etc.
- Lateral thinker with bird’s eye view, capable of finding an appropriate solution to complex problems.
- Is capable to introduce new technologies and efficiency improvements on group level (change management)
- Knowledge of and experience in hardware/software interfaces, understanding of cross functional operations
- Exposure to work on global environment, ability to communicate on different levels, good listener, coach and guide project team, with good presentation skills
- Working knowledge of CAD & FEA Tools like ProE / SolidWorks / Windchill / Ansys Classic / Ansys Workbench will be added advantage
- Exposure to International Medical Quality and Regulatory Standards e.g. IEC, FDA, CFR, MDD, UL, CE, CSA, BIS etc. will be added advantage
- Experience in the field of Medical Devices product design e.g. X-Ray Machines, Ultrasonic Machines, Mammography etc. will be added advantage

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
This role is an office-based role.
