Mechanic Helper
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with mechanical inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist mechanics and welders in general maintenance and repair.
- Check for problems and communicate up the reporting chain.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA Standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language to interpret manuals and directions on the job, over the radio, and to ensure safety for all on the work site.
- Ability to operate a forklift, use various hand/power tools, calibrating tools, soldering iron, drill press, welding, cutting equipment, levels, and measuring tape.
- Qualified to operate an overhead crane.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend and convey mechanical information.
- Ability to use computers, read & interpret manuals, basic welding & cutting skills, and experience in cane grinding or similar processing environments.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment, remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, as needed.
- Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of industrial mechanical skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during your scheduled shift.
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions, depending on the weather.
- Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift to 50 pounds.
Attendant
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Attendant within the Clarification and Juice Heating department plays a critical role in the sugar cane industry's sugar extraction process. This position involves working as part of a team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of equipment used for clarification and juice heating. The primary goal is to produce high-quality sugar by extracting and purifying juice from sugar cane.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Oversees the duties of the Attendant Assistant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- During Crop Season operates 9 rotary mud filters and 5 juice clarifiers. Starts and liquidate clarifiers and filters.
- Flocculant preparation and dosification on mud filters and clarifiers.
- Controls ph levels on clarified juice and monitoring mud pumps on clarifiers and mud conveyors.
- Ensure the highest possible extraction of sucrose in the filter cake by maintaining a balance between the speed of the mud filter drums, vacuum header psi and water applied to the drums.
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on clarification and heating equipment. Report any issues or malfunctions to the maintenance department.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
- Collaborate with fellow operators, supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient production processes. Communicate any process deviations or concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have basic mechanical aptitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend and convey mechanical information.
- Ability to use a computer and scanning tools.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts, various hand and power tools, measuring sticks, computer monitor and general maintenance equipment, and safe use of chemicals such as cleaners, acids and flocculants.
- Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED (or equivalent experience),
- At least three (3) years of experience of basic mechanical and operating skills in addition; operations, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
- Must have some experience in juice clarification and filtration.
- Must be able to read manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
- Must be able to work in all positions (bending, climbing steps, kneeling, reaching and crawling) and be able to continuously lift from 5 to 25 pounds.
