Mission Statement

The Children’s Network of Hillsborough is committed to working with the community to protect children and preserve families.

 

General Purpose of Job

Support the engagement and coordination of community services for families to prevent entry into the child welfare system and improve safety in the community.  Work in collaboration with Investigations, the local response team, and on “Parent Needs Assistance” (PNA) cases to ensure families are linked for services and barriers to engagement are resolved.  Ensure ongoing assessments with the family as needs and dynamics change. Develop relationships with and help grow the network of community providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage parents in understanding family dynamics through assessment and development of a support plan
  • Link parents/caregivers to culturally appropriate services and supports
  • Ensure follow through with services and monitor participation
  • Complete home visits, at least twice per month, for the duration of the service provision
  • Monitor timeliness, coordination, and engagement of services
  • Participate in service meeting with providers
  • Document services and interactions with the family and providers
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and agency goals, as needed and appropriate to the position.

 

Working Hours

CNHC’s believes in work life balance for all employees. This is an in-office position, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm averaging forty (40) hours per week. Working hours may vary based on business needs.

 

Travel

Travel in and outside of Circuit 13 may be required.

 

Training

All employees are required to complete fifteen (15) hours of training annually, which may be completed online or in a classroom setting. Employees who hold a credential or license relevant to their position must ensure that all training and continuing education requirements are met to maintain their credential or licensure.

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, human services, psychology, or related field.
  • Previous knowledge of child welfare and community resources is required

 

Skills and Abilities

The position requires strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with families, colleagues, and community partners. A solid understanding of family dynamics is essential, including knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. The role also demands strong organizational and communication skills, with the capacity to engage families in meaningful assessment and planning, link them to culturally appropriate services, and ensure consistent follow-through and monitoring of participation. The ability to document services accurately, coordinate effectively with providers, and adapt to assigned duties or special projects is also required.

Certificates, License, Registrations, backgrounds, drug screens, Etc.

  • Proof of education is required
  • Valid driver’s license required, with proof of insurance
  • Driver’s license check is a requirement
  • Criminal background screening (fingerprinting) (Local Law Enforcement and FBI/FDLE)
  • Drug Screening is a requirement
  • Children’s Network participates in E-Verify

Language Skills 

The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional documents, policies, and procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to effectively engage with families, colleagues, and community partners. The ability to write clear reports, case notes, and correspondence, as well as to present information and respond to questions in both group and individual settings, is required.

 

Mathematical Skills

The position requires the ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in order to maintain accurate records and documentation. Skills in calculating percentages and averages are necessary for tracking service participation, monitoring outcomes, and preparing reports. The ability to apply these skills in practical situations, such as reviewing data for compliance and evaluating family progress is also required.

 

Reasoning Ability

The position requires the ability to define problems, collect and analyze information, and develop effective solutions to support families. Strong critical thinking skills are necessary to assess family dynamics, identify needs, and determine appropriate services and interventions. The role demands sound judgment in managing sensitive situations, addressing barriers to engagement, and making decisions that prioritize child safety and family well-being. The ability to interpret policies, apply procedures to unique circumstances, and adapt to changing situations while maintaining professionalism is essential.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position are generally moderate. The role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and using a computer. Occasional lifting of office supplies, files, or materials up to 25 pounds may be required.
