At a Glance! Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic and creative instructor committed to community college students and their success. This position will be responsible for teaching courses related to LCC’s Business Technology professional-technical degree, with coursework including: Medical Office Administration. Coursework may include Coding in the Medical Office, Medical Reception Procedures, CPT Coding, Computers in the Medical Office, and Billing/Coding Certification Exam Preparation. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities including online, hybrid, and in-person.

Lecture rate is $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit).

Lab rate is $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit).

Field-based experience rate is $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit).

Position Duties

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in the teaching of Business Technology courses.

  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment.

  • Provide quality instruction in the classroom and online, adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations, and maintaining currency of content.

  • Effectively use computer applications/technology for instruction and communication as appropriate

  • Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide timely feedback to support learning.

  • Provide individualized support to promote student success.

  • Contribute to the department's initiatives to improve student success and retention

  • Effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team.

  • Uphold LCC policies and procedures.

  • Communicate effectively in oral and written English.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field plus five years of experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of experience, OR Masters Degree in a related field. 

  • Current AHIMA or similar professional certification in Medical Billing & Coding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of full time billing and coding experience

  • Successful college teaching experience in the Allied Health field.

  • Experience using technology to enhance student learning, including using a Learning Management System.

  • Ability to communicate knowledge and skills in both oral and written forms to students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds.

  • Proven ability to work with the community and health care providers to create training and curriculum to meet the workforce needs.
