Description

 JOB TITLE: Operations Manager

Working with wine is cool. Want to work with wine? Wineshipping is a tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies, managing the fastest, most accurate, and most cost-efficient delivery network in the US for wine, beer, spirits, and more. Wineshipping was voted North Bay Business Journal’s Supplier of the Year (Wine Beer & Spirits Awards). By the way, wine literally likes to stay cool, so our facilities are all climate-controlled.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Operations Manager has complete responsibility for inbound operations, outbound operations, or a cross functional process responsibility within the fulfillment center on a specified shift or across multiple shifts. Your leadership is what makes it happen, every day.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keep the team SAFE. Our first responsibility is that everyone goes home in the same or better shape than they showed up that day.
  • Serve the folks that report up to you with great leadership. Show them you are interested in them and what they’re doing. Listen.
  • You will help set operational and financial goals, and you will help us achieve them. Making sure we have accurate daily timecard information is key here.
  • You’ll constantly be evaluating and building your team. Sure, people come and go, but you will provide an environment where people want to be vs one where they want to leave. You will have a lot of help with this.
  • Coach and teach the people on your team to learn the operation and be ready for opportunities to grow their own careers with Wineshipping.
  • Align with enterprise-wide initiatives, such as process changes, operations reporting, and even competing with the other pros at Wineshipping to win the Units Per Labor Hour (UPLH) Championship!
  • Delight our customers by hitting their shipping targets every day, building confidence in you, and in Wineshipping.
  • Do your best, every day. Only you know when you are doing your best.
  • Other things may come up from time to time, giving you exposure to things you haven’t done before. “Other duties as assigned” sometimes, but we like to keep it interesting.

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commitment to excellence and high standards, for yourself and for others.
  • Good attention to detail – it’s the little things that make the difference in good service and GREAT service for our clients. (The big things matter to them too, just saying…)
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal process instructions. Following the process yields reliable results. Clients like “reliable”.
  • Take the initiative – you are empowered to do what you need to do, and honestly - nobody likes being closely supervised all the time.
  • You may need to work beyond your regular work hours and occasionally on a weekend, if needed.
  • Listen well and speak with confidence. For a lot of Wineshippers, you ARE the Company!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 2+ years recognized fulfillment experience
  • Direct leadership experience for an hourly employee population and not just its performance, but also its needs. You are there for them.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques
  • Experience with a contingent (temporary) workforce during peak seasons. We bring folks in to help with spikes in demand, and we make sure they know how glad we are to have them with us.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in sometimes stressful situations. You get paid for your judgment, you manage “stuff” for free.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
  • Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50lbs. but you can get help when you need it.
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Continually required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Continually work near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional loud noise, but not that often
  • Occasional varying environmental temperature changes, but not much because remember, wine likes to stay cool.

Benefits: 401(k), 401(k) matching, Dental insurance, Disability insurance, Employee assistance program, Flexible spending account, Health insurance, Health savings account, Life insurance, Paid time off, Referral program, and Vision insurance

Supplemental Pay: Bonus pay eligibility
