REPORTS TO: TMS Athletic Director/Building Principal
SALARY: As determined by negotiated salary schedule and current memorandums of understanding with the collective bargaining unit.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Serve as head coach for 8th grade varsity boys basketball team. Teach basics and fundamentals through basketball drills and practices. Ensure safety of all students during practices, games, and away events. Maintain inventory of equipment, uniforms, paperwork. Serve as a positive role model on and off the fields. Supervise team on the field, in the locker room, and on bus trips. Align with high school boys basketball program.
This position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students. The successful candidate will demonstrate a dedication to ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed, recognizing and addressing barriers to academic achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience playing basketball.
- Experience coaching basketball preferred.
- Knowledge of fundamentals and techniques of play.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification plus all other required certifications.
- Must have a flexible work schedule to accommodate practices and matches.
PREFERENCE: - May be given to those candidates who hold a valid Oregon teaching license.
- May be given to those candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English.
