Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Nursing Department as a Psychiatric Aide Supervisor 1 who supervises lower-level paraprofessional healthcare staff providing therapeutic and environmental care of patients on a ward during an assigned shift.
The Psychiatric Aide Supervisor 1 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.
Position Duties
Three years of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services, or psychiatric patient care; OR
Eighteen semester hours of college coursework in a social sciences field, education, social work, child guidance, or nursing; OR
Two years and six months of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care plus a Behavioral Health Aide Diploma from a vocational technical college with an approved curriculum from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Job Duties:
Supervises Psychiatric Aides providing therapeutic and environmental care of patients on a unit during assigned 12-hour shift.
Prepares daily work schedules and assigns basic work duties to care for patients.
Ensures that appropriate assignments are made and completed.
Completes shift report and participates in report at change of shift.
Reports pertinent information to appropriate supervisor on an on-going basis.
Recommends disciplinary actions and other personnel matters.
Communicates progressive information regarding performance of Psychiatric Aides to administrative personnel.
Assist in emergency situations. Performs duties of any subordinate Psychiatric Aide.
Teaches, assists, and monitors patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and/or disrobing to ensure patients' rights to privacy and dignity is respected.
Assigns or performs routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, collecting urine tests, bathing patients, washing and/or drying patients' clothing, etc.
Performs duties of any lower-level psychiatric aide as necessary.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, Demotion, Detail, Job Appointment or Transfer.
Compensation: This position has a Special Interest Rate (SER) of $1,190.80 bi-weekly. Position is eligible for premium pay of $1.50 per hour WORKED and Longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour WORKED.
