Your Responsibilities

 

As a Staff Data Scientist for JD Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, IA, you will:

 

  • Leads the design and deployment of scalable AI and machine learning solutions to address complex business challenges.
  • Applies advanced techniques in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and data mining to extract actionable insights from large, diverse datasets.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to define use cases, manage data pipelines, and ensure data quality across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Oversees experimental pilots and proofs-of-concept, establishing success criteria and guiding iterative development.
  • Translates strategic opportunities into measurable deliverables using agile methodologies and modern data platforms. Serves as a technical lead and mentor, providing guidance on modeling standards, architecture, and best practices.
  • Maintains expertise in emerging technologies and trends through continuous learning and external engagement.
  • Operates across multiple business units and platforms, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation and measurable impact.her staff members.

What Skills You Need

 

  • 6 or more years of experience technical experience in product, innovation, or program management role.
  • 1 or more years of experience providing technical leadership on one or more projects including having provided technical mentoring of staff on these projects.
  • Experience with data and using data in digital solutions to meaningfully collaborate with technical experts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cross-functional initiatives simultaneously.
  • Not afraid of ambiguity — actually energized by it – and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Highly motivated to work in a complex environment and demystifying emerging technology concepts for others.
  • Experience with Databricks.

 

What Makes You Standout

 

  • Strong demonstrated experience in synthesis, systems thinking, organizing software execution, and stakeholder storytelling.
  • Experience in early-stage product, R&D, innovation, or research organization roles is a plus.
  • Previous experience with John Deere’s Precision Tech Stack. 
  • Proven experience implementing emerging AI technologies (specifically GenAI), including agentic systems and autonomous workflows.
  • Ph.D. in quantitative disciplines such as Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Agriculture-related fields.
  • Hands-on experience working with large-scale geospatial datasets and remote sensing data, including satellite imagery and spatial analytics.

 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level
