JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:. A Technology Specialist supports and maintains an organization’s technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and communication systems. They provide technical assistance to staff, troubleshoot issues, implement new tools or upgrades, and ensure systems run efficiently and securely. The following EXAMPLES OF DUTIES are NOT intended as a comprehensive list. These provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbents may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: 
Assists in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of PCs, printers, terminals, etc.  Provides on-going support to all credit union staff in the use of hardware and software products, notifies users of new features available through software/hardware updates. 

Installs hardware and PC software.  Ensures administrative control over hardware and software assets.  Maintains appropriate supplies and accessories through maintenance of inventories, files, and logs.  Coordinates technology resources including data processing system, telecommunications network, telephone systems, workstations, servers, and network connectivity.  

Trains staff on all hardware and software tools.  Assist with phone and data communication systems.  Responds to and develops solutions for component failures and complex technical problems in all areas of computing infrastructure.   Assists with software upgrades.  

Performs network assistance, troubleshoots problems, and performs regulatory scheduled maintenance.  Assists with network and software customization.  Assists with members in isolating program problems.  Assists with maintaining IT security standards, policies, and procedures.  

Responsible for compliance with the Bank Secrecy and Anti Money Laundering Acts including monitoring for such illegal activity as it applies to this position.   

Work hours can be outside of traditional work week.  Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft DNS, Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Entra platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of Backup software platforms and backup strategy planning
  • Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, and comply with all operational policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of applicable credit union rules, ordinances, codes, regulations, administrative orders, case law and other governing rules and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of trends and practices of automation, networking and/or information systems.
  • Previous data processing experience includes networks, PCs, data communications, and PC programming and data organization.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. 
  • Skill in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments. 
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, other UniWyo CU employees, representatives from other credit unions, the public and/or others doing business with the UniWyo CU. 
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software and operating systems/applications.


 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An associate’s degree in computer science or closely related field AND one (1) year of relevant automation troubleshooting, programming, networking, help desk or closely related experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work and travel independently and use general office equipment. May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. 
  • Expected to work on site during Credit Union business hours.
  • May be required to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky supplies, materials and/or other items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • May be exposed to dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, and infectious diseases.
