About the Role:

As part of the nationally recognized Westminster University Honors College Wellness Programming, the Honors College seeks a skilled teacher/practitioner to guide students through Qigong/Tai Chi once a week for ten weeks. The program’s purpose is to introduce students to lifelong wellness strategies that promote balance, focus, stress reduction, and overall wellbeing.

The practitioner will be responsible for designing and leading weekly class sessions that are welcoming to beginners and students of all abilities, while also introducing the history, philosophy, and health benefits of Qigong/Tai Chi.

This role is ideal for an instructor who is passionate about teaching, enjoys working with undergraduate students, and can create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 Years of Experience Teaching in Qigong and/or Tai Chi

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of teaching experience in Qigong and/or Tai Chi
  • Experience working with undergraduate students
  • Experience teaching honors students or highly motivated learners
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning styles and physical abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design weekly class plans that combine instruction, practice, and reflection
  • Provide a supportive, beginner-friendly learning environment
  • Introduce students to the foundational movements and principles of Qigong/Tai Chi
  • Incorporate elements of mindfulness, stress management, and personal wellness into instruction
  • Encourage student engagement and reflection on how practices may support academic and personal success
  • Maintain professionalism and foster a respectful, inclusive classroom atmosphere

Time Commitment:

  • 3 hours per week:
    • 1 hour class time (Tuesdays, 8:15–9:15 p.m.)
    • 2 hours preparation time
  • Duration:10 weeks (September 16 – November 25, 2025)
    • No class on Tuesday, October 14 due to Fall Break

Compensation

  • $1,800 total for the full program
  • Equivalent to $60 per hour (based on 30 total hours)
  • Paid semi-monthly on the following dates:
    • October 7, 2025
    • October 22, 2025
    • November 7, 2025
    • November 22, 2025
    • December 7, 2025
