Job Summary
This is a full-time position in which the candidate will design and detail interior spaces, exhibit displays, site plans, and facade designs for a wide range of attraction projects within the Ripley’s brand. Must be able to develop creative, technical and original solutions that are on time and on budget. The candidate will work closely with the Creative Team, Exhibit and Archive Department, Interactive Technicians and Project Managers. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently but also thrives in a team environment. This is an in-office role at our World Headquarters in Orlando, Florida.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Research and develop ideas, concepts and storylines for new and renovation projects
- Develop preliminary concept designs and presentations for stakeholder approval
- Prepare full Detail Design packages (to include overall gallery/attraction layout, guest experience touch points, wall and show graphics, millwork/furniture design, exhibit display planning, multimedia integration, wall/floor treatments, lighting/audio and special effects, etc.) for project fabrication, production and installation phases
- Work on multiple projects at once and adjust to changing priorities
Requirements
- 5-10 years of relevant theme park, museum and/or attraction design experience
- Strong knowledge of the attractions, location-based entertainment and/or museum industry
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, themed entertainment design or related field
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator and similar creative design tools.
- Experience using AI design tools to enhance concept development (OpenArt, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, etc.)
- Ability to develop written conceptual outlines and treatments for design intent.
- Graphic design skills with a focus on environmental and signage design
- Millwork and furniture concept development and design
- Understanding environmental aspects of design: light, sound, color, texture, pattern, etc.
- Experience and passion for conceptualizing and creating fun and interactive spaces
- Understanding of child & adult behaviors as it relates to engagement and safety
- Experience reading and understanding plans and building scale drawings
- Professional and positive with a strong work ethic

- Hand-drawing skills, concept sketches
- Understanding and/or knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, etc.
