About the Position
As a Senior Accountant on our Client Accounting & Advisory Services team, you will play a key role in developing relationships and contributing to the continued success of our clients by managing and supporting their accounting functions. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing transactional and general ledger accounting, preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will work with a variety of clients across multiple industries including manufacturing, services, construction, real estate, not-for-profit, and government. This position is based in our White Bear Lake or Saint Paul office with the option to work hybrid or remote after six months. Candidates must reside in the greater St. Paul/Minneapolis area.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports for clients
- Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Oversee bank and credit card reconciliations
- Supervise transactional accounting processes and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Collaborate with clients to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 5+years of experience in accounting, with a focus on general ledger and financial statement preparation
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting software
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
Preferred Skills
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA designation
- Experience with payroll processing and tax report filing
- Knowledge of sales taxes and filing requirements
- Experience in construction accounting
- Experience with government and not-for-profit
