Summary
Haley Buick GMC Midlothian is seeking a reliable and hardworking Automotive Parts Counterperson to join our team. This position involves assisting customers and technicians in locating, ordering, and receiving automotive parts. He is she is extremely knowledgeable about automotive products and can accurately answer questions and satisfy customer requirements. The Parts Specialist uses a computer system to identify and locate automotive products within the current inventory or from other sources (such as the internet, vendors, other dealerships, etc.) and arranges for pickups or deliveries. In addition to serving walk-in customers, the Specialist provides parts to our internal automotive technicians to support the Service Department. He or she monitors inventory to ensure adequate availability and handles returns. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the parts department by maintaining accurate inventory and delivering excellent customer service.
The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or GED, previous experience with automotive parts & accessories, is willing to work as a team, has a strong customer service performance record, and strong computer & internet skills.
Effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist customers & service technicians with parts inquiries/quotes, orders, and pickups
- Maintain accurate inventory
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts shipments
- Process parts orders, returns, and warranties
- Keep parts area organized, clean, and well-stocked
- Coordinate with vendors & suppliers on orders and deliveries
- Provide exceptional customer service both in-person and over the phone
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Previous experience in an automotive parts or related role preferred
- Knowledge of automotive parts & terminology is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills (familiarity with inventory or DMS systems is a plus); willing to learn new systems quickly
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs. frequently
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift certified (not a requirement but a plus)
- Reliable transportation
- Valid VA driver's license with a clean driving record
