Hybrid PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH TEACHER bei Sac and Fox Tribe of Iowa

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and organize the learning activities of the class with due regard to the individual differences and needs of the students.
• Consider the individuality and culture of each student, and adopt teaching strategies suited to each child's educational needs.
• Maintain, in cooperation with the Principal and colleagues, good order and discipline in the classroom and school premises, consistent with the Meskwaki Settlement School Disciplinary Policy.
• Ensure a positive and secure school climate to enhance overall learning and student achievement. Nurture the conviction that all students can learn.
• Prepare daily and yearly plans of all curricular activities of the class.
• Develop and maintain a daily program chart and record of students as it pertains to other classroom programs (i.e. Chapter 1, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, etc.)
• Prepare and display a schedule of all curricular activities of the class.
• Evaluate each child's progress and plan instructional methods accordingly.
• Maintain and keep all necessary records for each student.
• Keep records of attendance of students to be reported daily.
• Cooperate with colleagues and administration, in program development and teaching activities.
• Initiate motivation and positive atmosphere for the utmost learning of each student.
• Report regularly to the parent/guardian in regard to their child's progress.
• Administer discipline in accordance to the Meskwaki Settlement School Handbook.
• Attend regularly all meetings of the staff convened by the Principal.
• Carry out supervising responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
• Create and assist with extra curricular activities.
• Create and assist with Language/Cultural activities
• As needed, serve on the curriculum committee to help achieve a curriculum that is beneficial to the Meskwaki Settlement School. This will serve the intellectual, cultural, physical, social and emotional development of each student.
• Provide daily supervision, guidance and work as a team with teacher associate.
• Monitor student behavior and initiate corrective action as required.
• Take training in programs that are necessary for the well being of each child (i.e. Mandatory Reporting, Bloodborne pathogens, Dept. of Interior FISSA)
• Will be directly responsible and be under the direct supervision of the Principal.
• Follow the Teacher Code of Ethics.

Requirement

• Must possess a Bachelor's degree and certification required by the Bureau of Indian Education and the State of Iowa.
• Must submit to and successfully complete a background check in accordance with P.L. 101-630, P.L. 101-647, and CFR 25 Part 63.
