Role Overview
The Assistant Management Accountant will join the Support Cost Management team, reporting directly to the Legal Entity Controller. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant month-end close for the EMEA Service Companies, while supporting broader finance initiatives and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Take full ownership and reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Register and Project WIP.
Manage all monthly accounting related to Fixed Assets and WIP, including depreciation, impairment reviews, and disposals.
Partner with team members to maintain accurate accounting for Work in Progress and Project expenditure in line with internal policies and accounting standards.
Support month-end processes, including: a) Preparation of flash reporting, b) Complete accruals and prepayments, c) Review of headcount and staff costs and d) Commentary on actuals vs. budget/forecast and prior-year variances
Oversee accruals and prepayments across multiple functions, collaborating closely with colleagues and business stakeholders.
Manage internal charging of Travel and Events costs, ensuring correct cost centre allocation.
Assist with the Forecasting and Budgeting process.
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline month-end processes in collaboration with Finance Systems and IT.
Ensure all controls are robust and reconciliations are completed, documented, and recorded in Trintech on a monthly basis.
Work with Procurement to manage purchase orders and approvals.
Assist with month-end Intercompany reconciliations, liaising with counterparts as required.
Contribute to year-end and half-year reporting, including preparing disclosures and supporting external audit requests.
Provide financial analysis and respond to ad hoc requests from Finance Management.
Offer cross-team support through knowledge sharing and training, ensuring operational resilience.
Experience & Competencies
Essential
Demonstrated understanding of Fixed Asset Accounting.
Proven experience managing accruals and prepayments across multiple functions.
Experience with service company intercompany accounting.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and deliver to deadlines.
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.
Self-motivated, resilient, goal-oriented, and capable of working autonomously.
Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality and control.
Collaborative, hands-on approach with the flexibility to support other team areas when needed.
Adaptability to changing requirements, with the ability to adjust processes and approach accordingly.
Proven experience in system and process improvements.
Accuracy and diligence in all outputs.
Desired
Knowledge of VAT and partial recovery rates.
Proficiency in financial systems and tools such as Oracle, Excel, SmartView/ASO, Hubble, and OneStream.
