ILS Instructor Floater / Floating Independent Living Skills Instructor
Location: Float Between Contra Costa and Alameda Counties
Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
About This Position: Floating Independent Living Skills Instructor (Part-Time)
The Floater position within the Independent Living Services (ILS) program is designed to ensure continuity of care and seamless service delivery when regular staff are absent or additional support is needed. This role provides flexible assistance to clients and supports the ILS team in maintaining high-quality services.
Purpose:
The Floater position plays a critical role in maintaining service consistency and ensuring that clients receive uninterrupted, high-quality support regardless of staff changes or absences.
What You'll Be Doing:
The Floater will work on a weekly basis with a flexible schedule determined by the Program Coordinator. The position involves covering shifts for staff absences, assisting with client needs, and providing general program support.
- As a floating ILS Instructor, you must be willing to travel between Alameda and Contra Costa Counties on a daily/ weekly basis.
- You will receive training and have the opportunity to support clients with the following goals:
- Money management
- Medical, dental, and medication management
- Basic cooking and meal preparation
- Utilizing public transportation
- Locating affordable housing
- Obtaining and maintaining benefits such as Social Security, Medi-Cal, Medicare, etc.
- Community involvement and socialization goals
- Household maintenance
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to clients according to their Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Cover shifts for staff members who are absent due to illness, vacation, or other leave.
- Assist with assessments, documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Support clients in achieving their goals in areas such as daily living skills, community integration, and personal development.
- Maintain compliance with all Regional Center, Title 17, and agency requirements.
- Report any concerns, incidents, or changes in client status to the Program Coordinator immediately.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new staff when required.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Independent Living Services or a related field.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different client needs and service environments.
- Knowledge of ISP processes and Regional Center requirements preferred.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and ability to travel to various client locations.
- Auto Insurance (100k/300k bodily injury liability)
- Pass a DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance.
Work Schedule and Reporting:
The Floater will be scheduled weekly based on program needs. This role reports directly to the ILS Program Coordinator and may receive assignments from other supervisory staff as necessary.

Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Candidates that tend to do well as ILS Instructors can come from the following backgrounds: IHSS, IHSS Provider, In-Home Support Services, Caregiver, Home Health Aide, Personal Attendant, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Paraprofessional, Behavioral Therapist or anyone that has worked with individuals with developmental disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy and downs syndrome etc.
