Hybrid Academic and Career Development Teacher - 7th Grade bei Minnesota Valley Education District

• Instructional Delivery:
  • Design and implement standards-aligned lesson plans that foster critical thinking and problem-solving within the context of academic and career development.
  • Teach students a range of study skills, including note-taking techniques, test preparation strategies, active reading strategies, and effective use of organizational tools.
  • Provide guidance and activities to introduce 7th-grade students to different career pathways and clusters, helping them identify their interests and strengths as they relate to future opportunities.
  • Create a positive, intellectually and emotionally safe, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and growth.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate study skills and career development concepts into core academic areas.
• Student Support and Development:
  • Assess student abilities and learning styles to provide individualized instruction and support as needed.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to address specific academic challenges and strengthen study strategies.
  • Help students develop an awareness of their interests, skills, and values as they relate to career exploration.
  • Encourage students to build self-confidence and self-determination through project-based learning and problem-solving activities related to career exploration.
  • Provide students with opportunities to participate in career-related activities like informational interviews or guest speaker sessions.
• Professional Responsibilities:
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, academic performance, and career development initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, and support staff to address student needs and achieve school goals.
  • Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and stay informed about current trends in education, academic development, and career exploration.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including assessment data and progress reports.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to all school policies and procedures. 

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Valid state teaching license/certification for the appropriate grade level.
