Job Summary

A Teller undertakes bank transactions and interacts directly with customers. A Teller is usually the first person a customer sees when they walk into one of our locations. A Vault Teller is responsible for all cash and coin in a location’s vault. This position will be required to work into a Saturday rotation.

 

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greets all customers and visitors when they enter the location lobby or approach the drive-thru
  • Orders currency and coins for location
  • Counts and records money received and sent for shipment from Federal Reserve and other Bank locations
  • Balances vault currency and coin daily
  • Processes daily transactions including receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, and disbursing cash
  • Identifies counterfeit currency
  • Cashes checks and payout money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds
  • Explains, promotes, and sells specialized products such as cashier’s checks and prepaid gift cards
  • Exchanges foreign currency
  • Performs services for customers including ordering bank cards and checks
  • Records all transactions promptly, accurately, and in accordance with bank procedures
  • Performs as a team member in allocating and coordinating the workflow
  • Answers inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products
  • Assists customers in solving account errors or problems, providing account balances, etc.
  • Balances currency, cash and checks in cash drawer daily; arrange monies according to denomination
  • Promotes and maintains positive relations with all contacts, customers, and potential customers
  • Assists with training for Tellers and Customer Service Representatives
  • Assists the Teller Supervisor with answering questions regarding bank policies and procedures
  • Opens, closes, and maintains customer accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, and IRAs
  • May be responsible for bank openings and/or closings
  • May be required to work drive-thru
