Qualifications: | 1. High School Diploma or GED required. 2. Fluent in Yup’ik and English. 3. Literacy in English; literacy in Yup’ik required. 4. Align with NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements (48 semester hours or Associate Degree or pass State-Approved Academic Competency test). 5. Willingness to participate in training programs as required. 6. Ability to work with students in a school setting. 7. Ability to carry out instructional activities with a minimum of direct supervision. 8. At least one year demonstrated successful experience as a Teacher Aide preferred. 9. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment. 10. Required participation in District Teacher Preparation Program 11. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below. |
Duties: | 1. Prepares and teaches lessons as assigned. 2. Organizes existing materials and makes new materials to be used in helping students meet the learning objectives. 3. Evaluates, assesses and assigns grades to student work as appropriate 4. Maintains a positive atmosphere for learning within the classroom. 5. Performs certain non-instructional classroom duties such as supervising snack, restroom, clothing routines, play periods, lunch periods, assemblies and field trips. 6. Participates in in-service training programs. 7. Checks and records student attendance. 8. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and fellow employees as is expected of teachers. 9. Maintains a sense of responsibility and positive attitude toward students and fellow employees. 10. Works collaboratively with other instructional personnel. 11. Maintains classroom student records and folders. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. |
