ABOUT THE ROLE
The Women and Girls Community Football Coordinator NSW/ACT will assist the Women and Girls Community Football Lead NSW/ACT with the operational and administration aspects of delivering the Women and Girls Game Development Action Plan. The principal objective of the role is to support the implementation of initiatives that work towards achieving the AFL's vision of equal opportunity for women to play, coach, umpire, officiate, administer, and govern the game of Australian Football in the community.
This is a maximum term role until 6th April 2026. The location for the role is Moore Park, Sydney
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
- Working closely with the Women and Girls Community Football Lead, assist with the operational and administration delivery of the Women and Girls Game Development Action Plan across NSW/ACT, with a focus on key areas:
- Driving 5–9-year-old participation through emending all-girls options in NAB AFL Auskick & Superkick Centres
- Increase staff/coordinator education & training around all-girls groups
- Assist in the build Under 9 Girls (or regions equivalent) competitions to ensure representation across all clubs within competitions
- Expanding opportunities for girls to participate through school programs and school competitions
- Supporting growth initiatives across coaching and umpiring
- Supporting the national rollout of a new Player Development framework that supports the needs of women and girls
- Work collaboratively with and provide support to the participation & programs and community football departments to assist with the delivery of the women and girls action plan priorities
- Work closely with the Women and Girls Community Football Lead to help administer and implement policies, regulations, and subsequent education programs to promote, develop and maintain quality football environments for women and girls
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader team
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
- Understanding of football (or equivalent sport), particularly women’s community football and the major factors impacting on Community Leagues, Clubs and Umpiring groups
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of community sport and/or experience driving participation growth outcomes
- Strong administration skills
- Well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
- Capability to establish and prioritise tasks to achieve objectives
- Ability to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience working with volunteers, desirable
