Job Title: Part Time: Certified Nurse Assistant Clinical Instructor at RUSH Oak Park Hospital Reports to: CTE Division Head & IDPH Program Coordinator
Terms and Conditions: 0.2 FTE/1 day per week on select Wednesdays or Thursdays
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Per Faculty Senate collective bargaining agreement, initial placement $12,168.00 -$14,930.00 annually. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Required Qualifications:
Must be an RN with a minimum of two years of nursing experience AND at least one year of experience in one of the following areas:
Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program;
Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older or chronically ill adults;
One year of work experience providing long term care facility services or direct care.
Hold an Illinois Teacher’s License with Career & Technical Education Endorsement OR Have a minimum of 2,000 work hours in the field of nursing AND 60 college semester hours.
Have 4 CEUs in Alzheimer’s or other Dementias.
Up to date CPR and health requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. in Nursing
Current CPR Instructor Card
Hold an Illinois Teacher’s License with Career & Technical Education Endorsement OR Have a minimum of 2,000 work hours in the field of nursing AND 60 college semester hours*, and;
Meet all requirements set forth by Illinois Department of Public Health and Section 395.160 which should be provided to ISBE at the time of applying for the teaching endorsement.
Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the CTE Division Head, and the Fundamentals of Nursing Program Coordinator-. The job entails instructing, supporting and supervising high school students to develop clinical skills and competence in caring for patients as a nurse assistant. This role involves hands-on training, performance evaluation, and fostering a positive learning environment while students provide direct patient care at RUSH Oak Park Hospital.
Essential Functions:
- ?Follows the IDPH CNA skills.
Works collaboratively with the Fundamentals of Nursing Teachers at Oak Park River Forest High School and communicates on a regular basis the progress of students with respect to clinical skills to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience for all students.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records; ensures supplies and equipment are in proper working order.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
