Required skills, qualifications and experience
- Materials research or Materials science and engineering background (qualifications and work experience) in composite materials.
- Composites experience in carbon fibre composites processing and testing.
- Additive manufacturing in Aluminium / Stainless Steel
- Understanding of composite materials processing / metallic additive manufacturing
- Experience in composite methods.
- Understanding of composite materials applied to space and aerospace applications.
- Writing technical documents.
- Background in high temperature materials / Hypersonics materials would be a welcome addition.
- Experience of Lab based materials development and testing.
- Understanding of phenolic resin processing, properties and chemistry
- Experience of working withing an ISO 9001 Quality system.
- Presentation skills.
- Knowledge of both destructive and non-destructive inspection techniques.

About the Role
Niche skills are required across either composites. Composite focus is on Carbon / Silica phenolic composite processing and characterisation. We are also looking into novel technologies for space and aerospace applications so experience in high temperature materials / materials used in hypersonics would be a welcome addition.
